ATTIC CLEANUP & SANITIZING

Restore an attic after rodent activity.

Rodent activity can leave behind droppings, nesting material, damaged insulation, odors and debris. We build the cleanup around what the attic actually needs and coordinate restoration with proofing when appropriate.

What attic cleanup can address

Rodent contamination can be concentrated in specific travel paths or spread through larger portions of an attic. Our scope is based on visible conditions, access and the amount of affected material.

Cleanup may include

  • Removal of droppings and loose debris
  • Nesting material and contaminated waste removal
  • Removal of damaged insulation as quoted
  • Dead rodent removal when accessible and included
  • Sanitizing and deodorizing of affected areas
  • Haul-away and disposal of removed material

Proofing and cleaning work better together

Cleaning removes the evidence and contamination left behind, but it does not close the openings rodents used to enter. When active or recent rodent entry is present, we recommend addressing the structural access points as part of the overall plan.

Why sequencing matters

  • Inspect the structure and attic conditions
  • Complete approved proofing work
  • Address animals already inside through trapping
  • Clean and restore affected areas as included
  • Replace insulation if the approved scope calls for it

When insulation replacement may make sense

Insulation does not automatically need to be replaced because rodents entered an attic. Replacement is more appropriate when insulation is heavily contaminated, damaged, compressed, missing, or when the homeowner is already planning an insulation upgrade.

Options can be tailored

  • Spot removal in localized areas
  • Larger cleanout when contamination is widespread
  • Sanitizing without full insulation replacement
  • New blown-in insulation after approved removal work

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions homeowners ask about attic cleaning & sanitizing.

Do I need a full attic cleanout?

Not necessarily. The right scope depends on how widespread the contamination and insulation damage are. Some attics are good candidates for localized cleanup rather than full removal.

Should the home be rodent-proofed before attic cleaning?

When rodents are actively entering, it is generally more effective to address entry points as part of the plan so the attic is not cleaned while the same access routes remain open.

Can you remove damaged insulation?

Yes, when insulation removal is included in the approved estimate. We can also coordinate new attic insulation after the cleanup.

Does sanitizing remove all odor?

Sanitizing and deodorizing can significantly improve affected areas, but odor results depend on the source, level of contamination and whether inaccessible material remains.

Can you clean tight or difficult attics?

Access and working conditions are evaluated during the inspection. We will explain what areas can be safely reached and what limitations apply before quoting the work.
